Bianch Infinito CV ...and so it begins

after some months of browsing and choosing, I finally tracked down the deal I was after and stepped away from another Wilier (but stayed italian)
The box arrived today, with this in it :
A Bianchi Infinito CV (55)
apologies for the dregs of the assembled bike - all the Ultegra stuff is coming off before it will be ridden, and replaced with something better and more appropriate - still debating that spec .

The unpicking work begins this morning - already most of the Ultegra gear has been removed, and it looks better for ithttp://veloviewer.com/SigImage.php?a=3370a&r=3&c=5&u=M&g=p&f=abcdefghij&z=a.png

Hi, sorry to jump onto your post.
Can I ask you what height you are as I'm looking into the CV and unsure about sizing. I'm 5' 11" with a 31.5" inside leg.
Much appreciated..0 -
I am between 5'10'' and 5'11'' - think the reach on this means I can up the stem to a 110mm from my usual size 56 with a 90mm stem - so I think this would be the correct sizing for you too.
also just decided on the wheelset
groupset decision is still out for deliberation.http://veloviewer.com/SigImage.php?a=3370a&r=3&c=5&u=M&g=p&f=abcdefghij&z=a.png

Thank you for the reply.
Looking forward to the final build.

I've been riding an Infinito CV for the last 18 months - superb bike so I'll watch this with interest. I guess for a more appropriate groupset, you'll be keeping it Italian and going for Campag?
Mine is Ultegra equipped. Yes, Ultegra is everywhere, yes it isn't Italian, and yes the chainset is plain ugly, but functionally the groupset is close to perfect. The latest Shimano dual pivot brakes are the best I have ever used, and Ultegra Di shifting would be very hard to improve on. I had a test ride on a Chorus equipped CV and the brakes and gear shifting just were not quite as good. I can really see the more individual appeal of a Campag equipped CV though, especially if it is Super Record.
On the sizing issue, Bianchis come up a bit smaller than their stated size compared to some other makes. My 61 CV has a stack and reach almost exactly the same as a 58 Cannondale Synapse for example.0 -
i have looked at Super record as it is on all the other bikes - but the 'racer' and 'climber' will keep SR, and for this smooth machine I have jumped for the latest Chorus EPS with the tube insert battery - my first foray into electronic gears ....http://veloviewer.com/SigImage.php?a=3370a&r=3&c=5&u=M&g=p&f=abcdefghij&z=a.png

Looks awesome - thanks for posting. How does it compare to a Zero 7 (speaking as a Zero 7 owner that was tempted to buy a Bianchi Infinito)?0
-
its smoother and like a fast racer/tourer in comparison to the Z7's sharpness Crit Racer handling - I'd choose this to ride all day, but it wont replace the new 2015 Z7 which is on it's way.http://veloviewer.com/SigImage.php?a=3370a&r=3&c=5&u=M&g=p&f=abcdefghij&z=a.png

Where have you put the charging socket for the battery?0
-
its on the downtube, just above the BB - just hidden by the crank on the last pichttp://veloviewer.com/SigImage.php?a=3370a&r=3&c=5&u=M&g=p&f=abcdefghij&z=a.png

Thanks - really interesting to hear a direct comparison. So many bikes I'd like to own..!0 -
Dear Lord that is an excellent bike.
Just been looking at Oltres, but I could never afford a build like this... So nice.0 -
all finished, and christened with two back to back days on the Surrey Hills - loving the EPS

Looking good Dom....not too much Celeste
How is it compared to the Wilier Stable?0 -
its a very smooth ride - much more suited to the Uk roads, and this was a swap out for the Air, which I found too hardhttp://veloviewer.com/SigImage.php?a=3370a&r=3&c=5&u=M&g=p&f=abcdefghij&z=a.png
