Mavic Exalith Wear
I have the Mavic Cosmic Carbone SLR wheelset with black Exalith rims. I'm starting to see the shiny aluminium between the grooves on the exalith braking surface. Does anyone know what the wear limit is on these wheels?
I only use the Mavic Exalith brake pads with these wheels so I'm disappointed that the rims have worn already. They have done no more than 2000 miles since new in 2013, still on the original brake pads. I thought the pads were meant to wear so the rims dont?

the coating wears off, sometimes quite fast, google "exalith wear"
bits of dirt/grit/whatever get stuck in/on pads, i'd bet a particularly hard bit could scratch off coating in a single application of brakes
braking will still be goodmy bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0
