Seatpost too long what to do?

Hi all I have a trek x-caliber 8 and the seatpost doesn't go down enough because of a screw, so it's no great on down hill has anyone got the same issue? if so what have you done? thanks

    Cut it shorter, providing it still comes up high enough and has enough left in the seatube.

    Break out the saw. Just make sure you still have the minimum insertion.

    You just need to cut a bit off like everyone else has said.

    Put the post to your normal pedaling position. Measure amount of exposed post.

    Pull post out of frame and look at the base of the post - it will have a minimum insertion line on it. Measure how long that bit is and add to the other measurement. Add a little bit extra to be sure. Cut the surplus off.

    Cut doesn't need to be exactly square but as close as you can would be good.

    Some frames have a minimum post insertion that might be more than the post. Worth a check but probably wont be an issue.
