I ended up being driven back to Chester in the Risesabove broomwagon ie Jag.
Snapped my right hand cleat on a steep little climb about 25 miles into the 120km ride. Foolishly tried to limp to the first feed station in the hope of getting a cleat but foot slipped off the pedal on a slight incline and I twisted my knee.
Ended up waking to a Tea Room near the Panoramic Walkway(?) to be picked up.
Gutted.
Checked and double checked everything on the bike never thought about cleats!0 -

Very pleased with the photos compared to some events I've been at.
Only real downer for me looking back on the day was a couple of lads who were extremely rude and unfriendly near the second feed, which was in complete contrast with everyone else who chatted as we all struggled along, talking about everything from gears to jerseys (I was wearing a Strava jersey from last year drawing some light banter)2012 Cube Agree GTC0 -
Oh yes I remember seeing a strava jersey.
I found most people pretty good on the ride - the standard of riding was pretty decent. I've had triathlons were people rode far worse than on Sunday. Oh there were a couple of nobs who rode through a red on the lights up the Steps - but they were abused for it.
How were the guys rude ?0 -

struggled and ended up walking by the corner as a car with a burnt out clutch was coming back towards me. 39/25 wasn't designed for that hill

I saw a guy in a green one too, they're really nice jerseys. Just wish I could find someone who uses Cuore and aren't Strava, IAM or USA cycling so I can get another.
Had a very brief chat with one of them at the feed. Couple of his mates directed some "kind" words at me as they passed a bit later. And then again when they passed me a second time later on.
Considering I'd only had a friendly chat with one of them it just left a bitter taste, especially as everyone else I chatted to was fantastic. Thought everyone was particularly good on Pen Barras in encouraging those who were still grinding it out on the pedals.2012 Cube Agree GTC0 -

Hello matey, I was on the propel riding with you and chatting. As we both said we are both normally solo riders so it was nice change chatting, you were a monster up the early climbs though, and I guess I'm a bit stupid on decent. Either way pretty similar riders and really Good to meet you. Shame about the bee sting!
I did think it was you when I saw your sig on here!
It caught up with me when it came to Pen Barras... Ouch. You definitely had me on the descents.
Yeah, first time I've ever been stung and not something I want to repeat. Can still feel where it hit me a bit when I close my eye.2012 Cube Agree GTC0
