Why on Earth would anyone take that groupset off?

Why on Earth would anyone have a bike that they would not ride?

If I had the wherewithal, I would buy it, and ride it.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

It's a lovely thing, but it should be ridden. Save it for special occasions and good weather only perhaps, but it should be used and enjoyed.

Whilst not the Arabesque, and only with regular mid 80s Record groupset, I rode my similar vintage Master to work this morning. Great way to start the day, all down hill from then on though...

That is a lovely bike though, and it would need to be a sunny day to take it out.

I must admit I have a "wall hanger", took me 5 years to source the frame, and a further 2 years to source the group set. Wheels came from USA etc etc...

No way is it getting stone chips or chain suck!

The calender is a bit cheaper @ 14 euros 98 cents. Pretty sure if you got on e-bay, you could assemble something very similar for much less.

I agree it should be ridden a bit, but if you ride it, it will no longer be the vintage bike that people crave enough to pay £15k for.
There used to be shed loads of these, and its riding them that means there are only a handful now isn't it?

I love the history of bikes and nostalgia generally, but you cannot always have your cake and eat it unfortunately.

If I had an 80s gettoblaster (JVC RC-M90 ideally) I would want to have kept it in an unopened box (like my Samsung D500) :P

I think they would Nap :) Most people here would also put a fanny pack on the saddle too if they were gonna ride it (which they're not going to of course cos they are not gonna buy it so it's all bóllocks anyway).

    :D

I expect most to be in a quandary if they somehow did. I mean you would have to wear one of these and put your life at risk 'cos you wouldn't want to look out of pace but you would want to keep the retro look:

No matter how cool a bike is, I don't think I could ride with one of those helmets. That steel bike is awesome, and i'd ride it. Just not in England. Or outside.
