Upgrades for a Carrera Blast 24 Kids Bike

The rear mech needs replaced, long story short the screw that adjusts the mech has lost grasp on the plastic hole. It was running following oem spec.

The Carrera Blast 24" is a solid off road machine. Featuring SRAM X3 21 speed twist grip gearing and a Suntour XCT-Jr fork with 60mm of travel, this hard tail will take on any terrain. The bike also comes with powerful Clarks branded CMD-7 disc brakes with colour coded white brake levers and white brake callipers, Carrera XC branded alloy rims and Kenda 24" x 1.95" all terrain tyres.

Im looking to get a new rear mech and maybe some adjustable lockout forks and also get rid of the grip shifts, perhaps brake levers and shifters would be what I want to upgrade.

Can anyone advise me the best routes to go down in used parts.

Thanks

Swapped both my lads Blasts, 20" and then 24" to SRAM trigger shifters,

That's whats on the 24" 21 speed, didn't take long to fit but need new grips too. Not needed any other upgrades as yet but interested to see what you fit for future options.

What grips did you go for? And is that link for a pair of shifters, and how do they perform?

Yep a pair, got the single for the 20" when I did that one, they have worked spot on and never caused an issue with shifting or control of the bike whilst doing so. Sherwood pines red route with gripshift was stop/start and walk, triggers was no stop and no problem for him first time if i coaxed him through the gear selections, and now its second nature for him and his little sis is on the 20" and having no trouble either.

Grips wise i think they are Clark D2's in white,

this is the spec of my boys carerra blast 22.78lb

I'd get rid of the grip shift asap and upgrade to 10sp rear even if its just deore then get the crank sorted, 165mm is too big for that bike. if you take one of the springs out of the OE fork and rebuild it with high quality grease it should make it a lot better.

Brakes - shimano SLX with XT 160mm rotors
    Crank - Thorn 150mm + RF NW 30t
Pedals - Kore Riveria thermo pedals
    Chain - KMC X10 93
    cassette - XT 10sp + superstar 40t xpander
Rmech - SLX shadow + medium
    shifter - zee 10sp
Wheels - superstar switch evo (rebadged Novatec D881SB front and D882SB) laced to Alex ACE 20 rims with sapim race DB spokes. hope QRs
tyres - schwalbe rocket ron rear, hutchison toro front set up tubeless
