n+1 : cheap tandem?

Stumbled across a cheap tandem or two on the 'bay, got me thinking whether we'd get any use for them. It's a bit hilly and some of the roads are a bit fast round my area, so I'm not always keen on a bike ride with the little ones.
(Although the cheap viking ones come in 15" / 17" pairings which is good enough for my 10 yo but not the smaller ones.)
I suppose I'm talking at the £200 price point..
Any opinions? I'm no fan of cheap bikes but it might be a fun ride with the family?

I have one, a Viking Saratoga, used it a fair bit when kids were younger - even if they cant pedal they used to sit on the back to be delivered to various local parties / activities. Also did London to brighton on it. The disc brakes that mine came with were poor so spent £100 upgrading to Avid BB7s. still a lot of bike for the money. still use it a bit if I go out will all 3 kids and the youngest isn't as fast / strong as the other 2.Bianchi Infinito CV
