new bike won't change down gear on front derailleur

Hi guys

Last week I picked up my Specialised Diverge sport up and I have been using it to commute to work. Today I tried to change down gears on the front and nothing happened, it didn't even try to change. It was on the highest gear and I wanted to go on to the middle.
Any idea what could be wrong?

Either too much tension in the cable or perhaps a frayed cable stopping the shifter shifting. Unlikely on a brand new bike, may be that the cable end has not been seated correctly into the shifter and its become jammed?
