Installing new Boxxer fork

Just wanted to try and be as sure as I can be that I'm cutting the steerer tube in the right place!
So, from bottom to top, this is the order of things I've put onto the steerer tube...
Crown race
Lower bearing
Upper bearing
Cover for upper bearing
Top clamps (stem attaches to this part)
Spacers
Star nut (in steerer tube)
Top cap
I don't think I had previously, but do I need spacers above the (metal) top bearing cover, or can the clamps (also metal) just sit on top of this?
I've marked the top of the spacers and am planning to cut about 2mm below this line.
Also, any advice on best way of inserting star nut?
Thanks for any help...

So what are you attaching the bars to?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I don't use bars.0 -
But seriously...the stem, which attaches to the top clamps, right? I may have my terminology wrong0

Some BoXXers use a direct mount stem which bolts to the top crown of the fork. Others use a standard stem which clamps to the steerer.
It makes a difference to where you need to cut the steerer.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -

Ah yes mine bolts onto the top crowns, so I've not factored that in to where I cut the tube...0 -
Ok then. So what is your distance between the crowns on the fork legs? Within the required measurement in the manual?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I couldn't find an installation manual, only a service Manual...it's the latest model of boxxer rc. The forks are just as they came out of the box. Do you know where I can find that info? Thanks0 -
