Hi, I'm looking at starting to bike to work, I'm after a reliable and good road bike for around £400-£550. Has anyone any suggestions for a good bike around that price range?
Thanks

Depends on the degree of brand snobbery you wish to partake in. I would suggest one of these, granted they've been reduced to 400 before but still good.

A good selection here in your price range: http://www.paulscycles.co.uk/m7b0s6p0/Road-Bikes/Racing-Road-Racing
Cannondales, Scotts, Cubes, Giants, GTs- all good brands and all under £500.___________________________________________

Hey! Kind of in same position, so I've never bought a road bike before, Would I be better off with the Argos one or one from Decathlon.0

I saw that the Genesis Volare 10 is only 500 now at Tredz, the review I saw said it wasn't bad but not specced as well as some £1000 bikes, however for 500 it seems a really good buy and even has some OK wheels (I probably weigh 100KG so they are needed). Thoughts ?0

This is a bit more money at £700 but does look good value for full carbon . . .

Can't go wrong with a Specialized Allez. Evans have an entry level one at £480.00. As you get more into cycling as you inevitably will (my experience) this is a great frame to upgrade at a later stage.0

As per the advice previously, Decathlon have some good offerings, this looks a decent option within budget.Vaaru Titanium Sram Red eTap

I ended up buying the Genesis one in the end. There was just something about it. That decathlon Alur was £600 when Iast looked. It cost me £494 set up and delivered within 3 days.
It arrived today and though I have nothing to compare it to i'm impressed with everything but the seat.
I can lift it with one hand quite easily and have ordered some decent shoes and pedals.
Very Happy.0
