I am going to try and do an organised ride monthly (Evans, wiggle, charity rides) to motivate me with training and building up my mileage.
Do most people have some sort of third party liability insurance? If so what sort of prices do you pay and what companies organisations would you recommend?

check your household insurance etc. to see if that gives you some cover
consider joining british cycling, even as a 'ride' member this gives you liability insurance and legal support...

...although one exclusion is that it doesn't cover liability wrt to other members in events, so if your main concern is other cyclists it's not idealmy bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0 -
