Changing Mavic Campagnolo freehub for Shimano

I have just bought some Mavic Ksyrium Elite wheels (i think they are 2006) that have a Campy freehub, but I need a Shimano freehub.
I found a used Shimano freehub on ebay but it is a 2013 model so it is going to have a 10mm shaft rather than an 8mm shaft (I think). Now, the question I have is: Can I remove the bearings from my Campagnolo freehub body and fit them to my new 2013 Shimano freehub body to make the new freehub body compatible with my wheels?

Thanks Sungod!
I have also ordered a Campag 8 speed cassette so that may be an easier option. I can grind 0.1 mm off each of the Campag spacers to set the cassette pitch to match my Shimano groupset.0 -
So, the route that it looks like I will now be going down (until I can afford to upgrade the whole groupset) is a Campag 8 speed cassette on a Mavic 9/10 speed freehub.
I have found evidence that the cassette will physically fit on the hub: viewtopic.php?f=40042&t=12916890
But does anyone have any experience of doing it? I read that because the splines are not deep enough the sprockets will cut into the freehub: final post here: http://forums.roadbikereview.com/components-wrenching/lloking-wheels-8-speed-campy-152985.html0
