Hello,

What would be the best tyres for these wheels, I mean width really.
www.wiggle.co.uk/fulcrum-racing-zero-nite-alloy-clincher-wheelset/

I've been told 23mm will roll faster but 25mm will be more comfortable. I've been used to riding with 25mm so I figured this would be the way to go but would appreciate any advice.

Any suggestions for actual tyres very welcome also. I normally ride the continental 4000 ones.

Thanks
Jon

You can use either, 23mm will be more aero, 25mm more comfortable. Are you racing with them? Try both see which you prefer. You already use Conti 4000 so alternatives are Schwalbe One, Michelin Pro 4 SC, Vittoria Corsa CX or SC.

a quick search will bring up a recent, and other, debates about this. The current view from many is 25mm is the middle ground

Just a thought - just in case you weren't aware - but these are basically the same wheels, same factory, same plasma finish, weights etc - just a different spoke pattern and £200 cheaper:

Depends on frame clearance if you can fit the 25mm tyres, some bikes struggle with clearance under the fork most commonly.

    GP4000s II are good performers.

'Best tyres' are considered different by different people.

    A) Puncture resistance to some is important because they ride in areas where they get punctures, I never have had to consider it myself
    B) Lifespan, how quickly they wear, some don't want to be paying out more often for tyres
    C) Speed, some tyres are quicker
    D) Feel, some tyres feel far better than others
    E) Wet grip, I assume you're not bothered as those wheels won't really be used in nasty conditions?

If punctures aren't a major point that need a dedicated tyre, then GP4000sII are a good tyre that's fast yet sure footed and lasts for a long time too. If you want better feel than that Vittoria Corsa CX are a jump up and the Corsa SC is as good as it gets for a clincher (pair this with Latex tubes for the best experience you'll get this side of tubs). SC is amber wall. But, bear in mind those Vittorias are not going to last like the GP4000sII's will.
