Nice article today http://www.bikeradar.com/road/news/article/new-specialized-aero-road-bike-prototype-spotted-44547/
Always liked the Venge albeit a little harsh but a new model would be a welcome addition and also make the original version alot cheaper to buy used which is nice

The prototype looks like it's going fast when it's standing still. There's bound to be disagreement about the looks, but personally I'm looking forward to being overtaken by one.Specialized Roubaix Elite 2015

Good to see them making childs bikesI'm sorry you don't believe in miracles0

No way I could ride it, but I think it looks fantastic !
Good for Specialized to be breaking new ground and pushing boundaries, some of the things on that make perfect sense, ie Front Brake caliper behind the forks, rather than in front, where simple physics would tell us isnt ideal.
Lets hope some of the innovation filters onto other models in mainstream too !0 -

where simple physics would tell us isnt ideal.
Which simple physics?
Wheel rotation is pulling the caliper away from the fork. Simples.
As shown on the Venge, an integrated mount 'behind' the fork would seem to be a more stable position.
Yes ? No ? I'm sure you'll perhaps know better.........0 -
Perhaps not the easiest on the eye, but he usually rides really small frames so maybe it might look a bit better in a 54 or 56.0

I'm an unsophisticated type and, consequently, a big fan of Specialized bikes, but even I've gotta say that is one of the ugliest bikes I've ever seen (and I've seen a fluoro green Planet X London Road!).Cannondale Synapse Carbon Ultegra

Oi, dig at me?
That Venge looks lovely though!0 -
I just dont see 'ugly' in that at all......I see 'streamlined Stealth missile".....with some great new innovatory thinking......
Hats off to Specialized.

sucked in by this F1 shed load of radical new thinking... cutting edge... new technology bs just to justify a bicycle costing 3 cars... apart from pro riders who the hell is going to do that justice...?

So what? What do those physics have to do with stopping the bike? If you mean that all that would happen if you sheared the bolt is that they'd wedge into the forks instead of just following the wheel round until the cable got caught.
Of course it's much more sensible putting it behind where it can be covered by all that crap from the roads.............Trail fun - Transition Bandit

But unless new ideas are tried, and boundaries pushed, how the hell does anything move forward ?
Same when Carbon Fibre was introduced, frames or bars, - do you wish that hadnt happened too ?
I agree, you may need to be pdq to do that Venge justice, but Cav is !
And anyway, anyone who can afford a Ferrari doesnt particularly drive like a F1 driver, doesnt mean you dont appreciate the engineering in it ! Same with bikes, - ignoring the stick you'll get from other riders with you perhaps !0 -

I completely disagree, I like this and I'm a stereotypical spesh hater, and I think the old venge looks horrible the larger it getsOne plays football, tennis or golf, one does not play at cycling0 -

It's an interesting take on a road bike- looks more like one of the new fangled TT bikes to me. Finding replacement brakes might be interesting though.
Unfortunately I can't get past the looks though. The old Venge wasn't a bad looking bike, but this is far too much for me and I think it just looks ugly.0 -
As a lover of all things Italian and FWIW with no preconceptions of Spesh bikes, it is truly fugly, very fugly. I have however always thought that in some extreme situation where I lost my beloved Italian rigs, I would look at a Specialized Tarmac so please don't put me in the 'haters' bracket.
But all of that does not matter. Consider that it is built for a function, not for aesthetic reasons. If it works, then who the heck cares what it looks like? No one on here is going to be riding it on a Sunday run and rather irrelevantly (refer to the above), if it was painted in different colours, it could possible look quite good - there's a lot of black.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0
