Having ridden my Salsa Mukluk for 4 years and my On One Fatty for almost 12 months both have gone and I've the best of both worlds now, the long distance and beach riding ability of the Mukluk and the trail fun of the Fatty in the one bike.
This is my all new titanium Travers Bat Fastard with the new Lauf Carbonara leaf sprung super lightweight maintenance free suspension fork.
Running on 100mm Surly Clown Shoe rims and 4.8" Big Fat Larry's with a 1x 10 set up, Jones Loop bars, titanium seat post and Brooks Cambuim saddle for an all round comfortable ride.
and in bike packing set up
As for the fork's
I've ridden 725 miles on the 29er Trail Racer and 145 miles on the Fat Carbonara with a 250 mile bike packing loop planned over the next few days.
They are perfect if 99.5% of your riding is with your wheels on the ground and you avoid the serious downhilling.

It's certainly different. Not my sort of bike but I would be interested to try it.
How heavy is it?Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
nice looking frame and saddle!!!“I am a humanist, which means, in part, that I have tried to behave decently without expectations of rewards or punishments after I am dead.”

How heavy is it?
With it's massive rims and tyres, heavy saddle and jones bars I guess it's around 33lbs, but get those wheels rolling and they are hard to stop once up to speed
A 250mile beach and Sandstone Trail bike packing tour of Northumberland is on for this weekend
With full kit and water on the bike (no backpack) it will be topping 50lbs0 -
where did you get the stem cap from mate? My buddy has just had a super bling fatty built up and one of hose would be perfect for him i may even treat him!!!0

But don't copy my design :twisted:0 -
Ahh its a Kapz one, I looked on there but guessed if it was them it must be a custom design. spoke with my mate and he already has some kind of 'Special' top cap.0

All that spec and cable discs looks odd!
I ride with a few guys with fatties, you're certainly rocking the 'controversial' choices there, vive la difference as they say!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
Aside from the fork, I love it! I just can't imagine an undamped leaf-sprung fork being good to ride.0

The fork is fantastic to ride with, it eats up small bumps very quickly and smoothly, for bigger bumps it acts just like a normal fork.
I've ridden over 1500 miles on these forks (on 2 bikes) and not had a problem with them, but 99.9999999% of my riding both wheels are firmly on the ground.0
