I was so chuffed when I saw his chain pop straight away... can't stand Gwyn, anyone who says I want to thank god in any win just makes me want to punch them.. but when he won my word I was a swearing a blind streak!!0

Well unfortunately for you the competition is about skill, and there's no denying this guy has it in spades.0 -
I've often thought on some DH tracks that pedalling looked like a distraction from the actual riding, I think the fact he wasn't pedalling helped as it meant he could focus on his lines and pumping etc without that distraction.
Like him or not, it's one of those rides were you just have to admire the skill and commitment.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -

It's funny, he wins and mentions that he feels blessed and then goes on to say he has had some bad luck on the track previously. So God helps when he wins but if he loses its not God it's luck?Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.0 -

No decent racer would have abandoned a run because of a broken chain. Even if the win is unlikely they would try their hardest to salvage some points at least.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

I've only twice retired from a race. Once I could do nothing about, I taco'd a front wheel and concussed myself. The other time I just got dropped on the first climb, felt shit and stopped. I am still rueing that one 15 years later.0

You'd be a bit phucked without a chain in an XC race though.0 -

Not if you had a secret ebike type thing
You still need a chain on an e bike, wrapped around your neck and pulled tight.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350
