I need some new forks for my 2012 Defy at some point since the brake is seized in my current ones and the paint is in bad shape behind the crown.

Unfortunately the 2012 Defy used an Overdrive headset (1-1/8 to 1-1/4) so its proving difficult to find any cheap Defy forks on ebay (at least ones long enough for my M/L headtube).

Most of the forks that I've seen listed are 2013 onwards, and use the Overdrive 2 standard (1-1/4 to 1-1/2)....

The measurements of the two sets of bearings that would affect the fit in the frame are close, but not quite the same... so are the differences highlighted in bold going to prevent me from using an OD2 fork?

Overdrive bearings:
Upper - 1 1/8" - MR042/MR121 (OD:41.8 x ID:30.5 x H:8 x A:45°)
Lower - 1 1/4" - MR082 (OD:46.8 x ID:34 x H:7 x A:45°)

Overdrive 2 bearings:
Upper - 1 1/4" - MR136 (OD:41.8 x ID:32.8 x H:6 x A:45°)
Lower - 1 1/2" - MR137 (OD:46.9 x ID:37 x H:7 x A:45°)

    interesting proposition.

i would guess it would work.

worse case scenario is that you have to flip a mint OD2 headset and the used forks on eBay.

let us know hoe things work out. i think it would. certainly on the TCX the difference between the OD and OD2 forks on the 1 and 2 model just require a different headset. same frame / head tubes.

Don't forget you will also need a 1-1/4" steerer tube dia. compatible stem.
