I've just sent them an e-mail but does anyone know if they're flexible on swapping cassettes and possibly rear mechs?
Would much prefer an 11-26T rather than the 11-32T it comes with and so could also live with a short rear mech.0 -

At that price I doubt they will be keen to faff around swapping out cassettes and rear mechs.
You could always call and ask but my instincts would say just take the bargain and do the swap yourself. You can always sell on the 11-32 and medium/long cage rear mech0 -

I'm just looking for reasons not to buy it as it's a bargain! Got to stop buying bikes without proper mudguards....0 -
Looking to buy a road bike for around £500, how does this compare to the Boardman Road Sport Limited Edition - http://www.halfords.com/cycling/bikes/road-bikes/boardman-road-sport-limited-edition-black?cm_re=10cms+slides-_-Slide+3-_-boardmansport
and this http://www.tredz.co.uk/.Merida-Ride-Alloy-91-2014-Road-Bike_64950.htm ?
Many thanks in advance,

8 speed Claris and Mavic CXP22 wheels on the Boardman
9-speed Sora and Alex24 wheels on the Merida
versus 11-speed SRAM Rival and Campag Khamsin wheels - it's a no-brainer
Just buy the Planet-X and stop worrying if there is something better out there for that price. The answer is NO0 -

Both the options you cite have inferior groupsets. IMO the Planet X deal is pretty much unbeatable at this price point.0 -
Many thanks for the swift replies! Think I'll order one in the morning0

What are those frameset like? Ride must be terrible. Anyone with any experience like to share their view on the ride quality compared to more top end aluminium frame?0
-
Why would it be terrible?
I've done 70 mile rides on it and it's fine. Not as smooth as carbon or steel (I have both) but absolutely fine.
This is a bargain and highly recommended.0 -
Looks a blinder of a deal, not sure you can be too critical of the frame quality at this price point.I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles0
-
It's a good frame. No one who has tried one would say otherwise. Just snobbery based on the price.0

Nope, perfectly good frame. I have one as my 'wet' bike along with a Canyon Ultimate. Both are stiff as, both look good in matt black and both perform better than I can! PX feels slightly heavy, even if official figures say its not.
Anyway, proof is in the pudding - first day I took out the PX I got a Strava KOM on a cat 3 climb I'd been eyeing for a year or two...0 -
Ordered this yesterday so thank you OP for the heads up and the advice from the others. Can't wait for it to be delivered.
Back to £800 now, glad I grabbed it while it was on offer!

Enjoy and be in no doubt you'd need to spend £8-900 as a starting point to get a meaningful upgrade on this.0
