Wifes new wheels - not quite an MTB

As well as one super chuffed step-son (loves his Carrera Blast) I also have a happy Wife!
My Wife is disabled (spinabifida & paraplegic from birth) and has been a bit miffed that the rest of us toddle of on our bikes and she struggles to keep up in her standard wheelchair.
We've looked at handcycles, attachments and off-road wheel chairs but the prices are astromonical (between £2k & £6k).
Had looked at getting one of the cheaper attachments for her old/spare chair on cyclescheme and getting a set of off-road wheels seperate.
I occasionally look on ebay to see what's available, I spotted this a couple of weeks a go:
Starting price of £250 with a reserve of £300 including the wheelchair. Needs a bit of tlc but thought it might be worth a punt.
No bidders until 4pm today - wasn't holding out much hope as the chair & attachment are worth probably £600 as they stand.
Well I managed to win in the last minute for the bargain price of £322!!!!!
Wife is well pleased and we need to take a trip to Hollyhead to pick it up this weekend.
Will change the tyres to something more suitable for the Chase & Hicks and fit some guards inside the chair against the wheels but should be good to go.
We are now a cycling family!
Sorry about the long post

Saw a guy on something similar the other day on the way home from work. It looked to me though that this bloke didn't have full use of his arms, so it was all legs.
Glad that stuff like this exists. Hope you'll do a build thread when you're making the changesStumpjumper FSR Comp 650B http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=13032340

Thanks chaps.
She demo'd a newer version a couple of weeks back and was really impressed (£4k's worth including new chair!!).
Will see how she gets on with this one and may see about a new one in the future.
Yes I'll keep updating the thread with improvements etc. as and when.
Picking it up Saturday so I can see Sunday morning being a quick service, assessment of new bits and probably a test run somewhere._______________

Awesome! It must feel so good to be able to get her out there with you in what, for her, must be a pretty hostile environment.
Have you seen this...

I was at BPW on the day they were filming this so saw it in action first hand. I went from being skeptical when it first rolled up to waning a go myself once I saw it in action! They were at the trailhead at the same time as me and a friend and I was chatting with the racer in the vid and he was genuinely raving about how it rode. Doesn't look as if it's going to be cheap, though. But then again, what price can you put on getting your missus out on the trail. All the gear, no idea and loving the smell of jealousy in the morning.

Cheers chaps.
Have seen the gravity racers before - the wife isn't too keen on having a go for some reason lol.
Picked it up yesterday and on first inspection looks like a service, lube and some air in the tyres and it should be good to go.
Will get some more trail oriented tyres amd knock up some side guards too._______________
