Disc brake wheelset compatibility

I've got a question about disc brake compatibility, apologies if it's an obvious/stupid one.
What are the restrictions of wheels working with disc brakes? Can all wheels work with disc brakes, and only rim braking needs rim specific wheels?
I'm looking at getting some H+ Son TB14 on Shimano 105 hubs for road and off road use, but I can't see any examples of this rim being used with disc brakes.
I'm not fixed on these if anyone has any ideas of a better wheelset for my needs. They will eventually go on a Croix de Fer frameset, and 28mm is probably the thinest tyre I'll ever use.
Thanks for any replies

It's my understanding that the disc itself needs to attach to the hub, so you cannot use rim wheels for disc braking.0

Disc brake specific rims have a thinner sidewall as there doesn't need to be so much metal, because there's no braking track. So any rim brake rim will work if laced to a disc hub, but not the other way around.0

The rim needs to be buit onto a disc brake specific hub. So the rim you mention is fine, but the 105 hub is not.0

Thanks, that makes perfect sense. Now to look for disc hubs0

If you can afford the time to go through all the pages of the sticky on handbuilt wheels at the top of this forum then you will come across several posts on disc hub recommendations.
To save you a bit of time here are some of the more popular ones (assuming you're not looking to spend silly money).
Novatec D711SB/712SB (the 712SB comes in either a 10 or 11 speed version for Shimano or Campag)

Hope Pro2 Evo

Shimano CX-75
http://www.evanscycles.com/products/shimano/cx75-ultegra-11-speed-centre-lock-disc-rear-hub-ec057624
You should note that that the Shimano CX75 hubs use the centerlock system to attach the disc to the hub whereas the Novatec and Hope hubs use the 6-bolt system. You can get a converter to adapt the Shimano hubs to 6-bolt if you really want to.
There are others out there such as DT Swiss and Chris KIng but they are quite a bit more expensive0 -
Thanks for the help arlowood0

Do yourself a favour and speak to Ugo or Cycle Clininc then relax0

you can see a whole range of road and CX disc brake wheelsets here with the rim you are thinking of http://thecycleclinic.co.uk/collections/road-disc-brake-wheelsets

Thanks for the links and advice, I think you're right in getting some help with these.
The Cycle Clinic has some good options, is Ugo a user on the forum?0 -
is Ugo a user on the forum?
He is...
All good hub advice above.
I have a pair of TB 14... they are good rims for retro builds and if you like the look of shallow rims... for a disc wheel a rim with a bit more profile will build a stiffer wheel... Archetype for instance or if you want to spend more there are tubeless ready rims like Aileron, Pacenti and Stans Grailleft the forum March 20230
