First All Mountain rig!

Hi all,
Am hoping to buy my first all mountain rig! I know in the past if you did Downhill you bought the frame size below what you required, but if you did XC you bought the right frame size for your height.
What do you do if you buy a bike that goes up and down? I will be using mine for mainly gravity riding with some jumps, and for the occasional XC stint. What do people generally do when buying an all mountain rig? (I cant pre-test as it is being ordered online, so that option is out of the equation)
Thanks!

Stop calling it a rig, it's a bicycle!
The days of riding small downhill bikes are long gone, my DH bike and trail bike are both large size with a similar length top tube.
Get a bike which fits you right. Top tube length is the most important thing to get right.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350
