Could they have made this page any worse? Some of the women I ride with are getting quite angry about this one!
I'm fairly sure some women do like to ride hard on rough terrain .

Designed by women for women but marketed by chauvinistic men. Nice one!

Kind of a patronizing reverse version of the Pepsi max and ads which were the aimed.at young men by showing the all drinkers.as hard riding adrenaline seekers. Stereotypes rule according to Marketing men.

The posts to their Facebook page from any women suggest that this has not gone down at all well.

Not surprised, it's extraordinarily patronising. What on Earth were they thinking when they wrote that!

They were thinking "I wonder what sort of lovely cake will my wife be at home baking. No that I have put that basket on her bike she has no excuse not to get me something nice from the shops, I couldn't let her drive she would definitely get that wrong"

I've just posted that on my club's FB page, light blue touch paper and retire FAST!

Patronising, chauvenistic, insulting, outdated, offensive, misogynistic rubbish.

Given they have female racers at the World Cup it is a little odd. Not defending them but I suspect it may be more a translation issue with the content. Even so, it shouldn't have been released live as it is.

I think for quite a large percentage of lady folk that's pretty much spot on.

The same is probably true of a good percentage of men folk, too, but when was the last time you saw copy like that directed at chaps?

Doesn't the dog go in your handbag?

SEE! It needs a basket! Fortunately the easy mount/dismount feature means I can stop to sniff the wildflowers. I wonder if you have to ride sidesaddle?

I don't see the problem. Here's my partners bike set up for a serious shopping expedition. No space for the dog unfortunately, but bog roll is far more important. Nice and easy to get on and off, puffy saddle for delicate lady butt. Side stand to stop and smell the flowers.
She's not in shot as I'd chained her back to the kitchen sink by then.

To be fair, if you read the blurb for the "mens" bikes its not exactly inspiring either. Czech brand so language is probably a barrier (not much of an excuse but not sure where they sell these things) and eastern euro types do still do sexism better than the west of europe.

Just shown the superior site to the mrs, her reaction was what's wrong with that, shocked me a little till I re read the description of the bikes, seems they've changed it a little now.

What did it say before then? Still seems a little patronising to me. Good that they've listened to complaints and acted on them I suppose.
But Katiebob is right, they need baskets.

Was pretty tired when I read it but I remember something along the lines of women not wanting to ride as hard as men.

The bit about being able to mount and dismount safely got me.

As if women all over the world are having catastrophic accidents by trying to get on a bike!

And that Katie opens up so many possible (all rather un PC) replies.........

As it happens my wife has to have a traditional Ladies low top tube frame as a Hip problem means she can't actually swing a leg over the saddle at all comfortably, it's a bit strange having a frame like that then equipped with fairly high end parts!

ha ha - I was going to put something about not being able to get a leg over!

I understand if it had a particularly low top tube (http://www.evanscycles.com/products/tre ... e-ec068698) or they had a step through design but they don't. They just look like regular womens MTBs.

Indeed, they have a mild kink, but not much.

Obviously the attention has hit home as the wording on that page has changed a LOT, the condescending stuff has gone, although it still claims the easy mount/dismount as a feature.

I do quite regularly. I'd probably have to sell my bike if it didn't have a dropper! :)

So what you're saying is as well as a dropper being 'cool' it doubles as a geriatric device.

It helps me get my leg over. And, at my age, I need all the help I can get.

I can only get on my bike from the right side due to hip issues but can only dismount (while in motion) to the left.

By the way, forgot to mention - nice ancient Harry Enfield reference for the thread title Rockmonkey.
