Campag Double- Convert for hilly ride
I have a bike set up with a Veloce groupset 53/39 11-25
I need this for time trials so don't want a compact.
Like the double don't want a compact
I want to ride a few hilly rides out of area.
What is the easiest adaption for a weekends hilly riding?
Buy a compact crank?
53/36?
Will I need to change rear derailleur?
Cant do MTB cassette as running Veloce?

I suppose it depends on how seriously you time trial. If you're pretty good and really need a 53, 11-25 - then compromising your set up to accommodate hilly casual rides is a no-no.
Otherwise there is no shame in running a compact.0 -
Thanks Kev.
I am not ashamed to use a compact.
I like the double and it is good for most of my riding.
What is the easiest way for me to modify the bike for the weekend?0 -
If you think a 36-25 would be low enough, then you could get about the same ratio with a 39-28 (if the rear derailleur would handle the 28).
But even going from 39 to a 34 chainring is just 12.8% lower,
and going 25 rear to 28 is just 12%.
If the hilly ride is going to be really difficult, then you might need a compact on the front, and a 30-32 on the rear.

Basically, change to a compact.0
