Hi all
What are the main reasons why flat bars are used instead of risers for competitive XC riding?
Is it for power/stiffness?

Constantly trying to upgrade my parts. It is a long road ahead as things are so expensive for little gain. n+1 is always the principle in my mind.

to get the right body position for wheel weighting and aero benefits.0

Even more so on a 29er where the BB and saddle haven't changed height (relative to the ground) but the top of the headtube has risen, hence the recent(ish) introduction of inverted stems, some even -25deg, on XC bikes.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

Short arses like me have the same issue on 27.5 wheels!0

I just like my bars low to improve handling and get better feel for the front tyre. It also helps keep weight over the front wheel while using a short stem.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Recently picked up some straight bars to try.
Had them before risers but want to try them again, so will see.0
