    Aru ....possible?

Kelderman probably not. Lady Garden maybe a top 10 if he's lucky (esp with no long TT), Aru won't race it as he is down for the Vuelta, Bardet maybe, Pinot maybe, Mollema definitely not.

Maybe also consider Barguil, Purito, Frank and, ahem, Kristoff on current ability to beat everyone on any type of parcours.

Let's also not forget Alejandro, who will probably been in prime position to take over from Quintana when Nairo inexplicably finds rat poison in his bidon and a couple of tacks in his tyre.

  • You've got to start talking up Alaphilippe to

He's had an incredible year for a 22 year old - hope he gets a ride and shows some FLAIR

Could be a good contest for the white jersey this year. I'm not sure of the rule but Pinot turned 25 last week (still eligible?). Anyways, Alaphilippe is due to ride the Dauphiné, which could be a good indicator as there seems to be a very strong field this year.

whathisname alias JC Peraud - 38 this year - funny to think he's only been in the pro peloton for 5 years after a mtb career and got a 2nd in tour and I think would have got top 5 the year before without that terrible crash onto an already (broken?) collarbone

I think he's passing the torch on to Leopold Konig now.

Incidentally, who was the last person to come in the top ten in his first three GT starts? Do we have go back to LeMond? (Ullrich was DNF in his first)

Popovych came close, 12, 3 and 5 in his first Giri
    Andy Schleck too, 2nd, 12, 2nd

I don't think Alaphilippe will be up there in the Tour. He has had an extremely good season but he strikes me as more of a Kwiatkowski than a Contador. I know he won Baldy but frankly his main rivals on that mountain were Henao coming back from a long lay-off and Sagan. And it was just one stage.

The boy has a lot of talent though.

It would be nice if the commentators could agree on how to pronounce his name. Most common I hear is Heh-sink, is that right?

My poor knowledge of Dutch would probably make me think it's Hggchhhhhesink. The beginning part of his name would be like you are trying to hack up that bit of phlegm stuck in your throat. No expert though.

not bad predictions in the end - next 4 - apart from Valverde who is not included -

TJ vanG - possible podium before abn

    then really it was Gesink(v good) , Mollema(good) and Frank(no mentions)/Bardet

    Kelderman 3 hours back
