Uran has a decent gap, chasing Hesjedal now. Good to see him doing better, finally!

Landa losing 2nd on GC to Aru if it stays like this.

Inside 2k, almost 30s between Aru and Hesjedal, another 30s back to Uran, 10-15s more to chasers.

must have had something in his tea this morning

Shredded special K. Distraught at Kangert nicking Steve's KOM points on the line. And there's Landa, Basquing in the support of an Italian team in the Italian race.

    Rai focusing on Aru's maw.

    +1

I wonder what it was to show such a performance improvement?

What's with Team Tinkoff? "My Man (With Impending Ban)" Krueziger is nowhere - yet would ordinarily at least be a match for either LL Cool Gil Sanchez or Paul Longpulls... It's been left to old boys Basso and Rogers to escort Bert until they have to stop for their afternoon nap and bag change...
Even shite Team Sky had more riders in the lead group on the last climbs.

But Astana were stronger then, too.

Perhaps it's because Bertie is so good that everyone seems a bit meh in comparison? Like Froome at 2013 Tour...

Saving themselves for tomorrow, put them to the sword on the Finestre, make them suffer.

Confused. Why didn't Contador go for the stage win? Is he tired? Struggling? Maybe throttling back, thinking of the Tour. Just don't get it.

It can take a few years for thinking humans to adjust to feudal treatment. Some never make it. Cataldo had to leave Sky in the end.

Oleg needs to apply the mild motivationals again.

I wondered if there was a bit of a deal with Aru in exchange for them not chasing the win tomorrow.

Wonder if there was a deal with Hesjedal for helping him yesterday.

Big road, flat finish, still a few riders there. I think he probably thought he had no chance of dropping them all and staying away and probably didn't fancy his chances in a group sprint if he spent energy to keep it together. Could be wrong though.

    Good Giro,

despite the lack of superstars and the questionable route, there is good action every day... gran finale today... I hope Contador wants to leave his mark on the race... the Finestre climb is ideal for him

So so happy with that win. A win to remember as any win in a 200km+ mountain stage is. Well done my man.

    And what a salute:

    Great post stage comments:
“The suffering today in the last seven kilometres was equal to the suffering on the last 40 kilometres of the Mortirolo stage,” Aru said. “I had to make the same effort here but I managed it better. This is a sport of suffering. It’s easy to win when you’re good, but much less so when you’re suffering. Nothing has come ever easy to me, but I’ve hung in there.”

    And Contador continues his praise:
Congratulations to Fabio, he was the strongest,” Contador said. “He’s not the future – he’s already the present. I like the way he rides.”

Kangert 13th and he rode for others. Tiralongo 19th and ditto. Very impressive.

Saxo terrible in the mountains. They need some proper riders. Shame Rogers didnt have his amazing form from last year.
