So the guy banging on about cyclists rights and safety the loudest, gets called a tool by the folk he wants to champion.

Brilliant. Maybe you should do it instead ?. Maybe you should use your influence gained after years of pro cycling and involvement in the industry to try and make cycling in Britain better.

That way he can wee-wee of to Holland like you said.

All Boardman seems to do is put all the blame on drivers and a lack of infrastructure rather than concentrating on things which could be changed such as promoting cyclist and driver education.
He's full of problems but has no realistic solutions to them. Even something like the Think Bike campaign originally started for motorcycle awareness has helped so why not something to remind people to give us more space when overtaking?
All I have seen from Boardman is regular whinging on the Internet and going on TV saying helmets are a waste of time. It would be good to see some positive action from him for a change since that's what he's paid for.
I used to be a BC member but since they have made a mess of mountain bike racing I give up my membership.

Very true. The words of caution I often use with my kids are a variation of "Think how stupid the average person is, half the people you meet will be stupider than that." This can be adapted to suit the particular occasion warning them about drivers if they are out on their bikes is one. Seems to make them think more than "assume all drivers are out to get you."

At the risk of being pedantic you ay wish to add the following disclaimer:

"Think how stupid the average person is, half the people you meet will be stupider than that. of course we are using the median average in this case, the same might not hold true for the mean or mode. See son, maths is fun as long as we use it correctly!"

Sorry, not sure how I ended up in the MTB section, i'll leave now!

Believe me we've been down that road. 16 year old son is rather good at the maths thing and for some reason is a pedantic smartarse. Can't imagine where he got that from.

I have a GCSE, 2 A-Levels and a Degree in Maths so like to get my money's worth out of it all, other than adding, subtracting and the odd bit of multiplication it crops up surprisingly infrequently in day to day life!

Not that surprising really. :P The boy is headed down a similar path. Did GCSE early, now doing Additional Maths. Lined up to do Maths and Further Maths at A level, hopefully followed by some sort of engineering.
Can I send him to you if he wants help with his homework?
