Hi All
Just hoping the vast knowledge base on here (great forum!) can maybe help me. I have a Scott Solace which has a 1 1/8" carbon steerer tube. I recently purchased a Ritchey WCS 4 Axis stem (needed a shorter one) but didn't realise it's steerer clamp was for 1 1/4" steerers.
The stem really suits the bike (matches headset etc) and I would like to keep it. So question is, can I use a shim on the steerer tube to allow it to take the stem. I'm finding it difficult to source one but have found this (sorry for huge url)-

I've emailed the firm to ask if it would work but what would the consensus be on here? Would I be better / safer just fitting another stem? Can anyone suggest another suitable shim? There are many 1 1/8" to 1", but hardly any 1 1/4" to 1 1/8".
Thanks
Dave

That is what Giant do with their 1-1/4" OD2 stems, so as long as the stack height of the Ritchey stem matches the Giant shim, then it should be fine.

Its just a shim - find one that fits, chuck it in, away you go. Jobs a fish really.
