My rear derailleur hangar broke this morning.

My road bike is a Merida with Sora groupset.

Noticed there is a Clarks universal hangar costing £2.99 from Chain Reaction! Would this be OK or do I have to be more specific?

You need the correct hanger for your frame, make, model and year. That universal is a get you home fix.

So have a chat with the shop that supplied your bike.

Numerous websites have replacement hangers listed but not for all bikes. Most websites have the same hangers listed but I had to go to soshanger.com for my Forme hanger. When searching, don't just search by model name, look at every hanger if the model search draws a blank.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.
