Discs v Rim - domane

My head is being turned by the above bike, but I am uncertain re rims v discs. I have both the former on a steel racer and the latter on my commuter (which is my best bike).
90% of my riding is commuting and the odd longer runs in the summer on a mix of road and bridleways. I think the domane will work on both, but I liking the idea of a light bike. Note that while I like the idea - spending the money is a whole new decision which could take a year or so.
So what are people's thoughts on what should be bought - I would like to be able to use the bike year round.
I guess what I am asking is there much difference in feel and quality of ride etc - due to the disc penalty or not really and having nicer wheels and tires could offset most, if not all the difference
thanks

Disc or rim is irrelevant, what you need is tyre clearance if you want to go offroad, as 25 mm tyres are not much fun on a bridleway... neither of them is an off road bike... I think you should look at a cyclocross bike instead, which will do everything you want it to.

A friend of mine who owns 5 bikes has bought a Mares AX disc last year... that's pretty much all he rides these days... swap the tyres and off you go... mud, gravel, grass, tarmac, cobbles, anything... it weighs 8 Kg something, which compares favourably with most road bikes tooleft the forum March 20230

I used to use my Domane on the odd bridleway, it's really not suitable. It's ok but I still felt fairly beat up at the end of it, as Ugo mentioned Cross bikes or gravel bikes have greater clearance for wider tyres run at a lower pressure. These are better for that type of riding.
I use my steel cross bike for all sorts of riding, it's very comfortable for eating miles, but it's not an out and out race bike. I absolutely love my cheap as chips cross bike, I've got an expensive lightweight carbon bike that's also great to ride, but the most fun I have is mixing up a road ride with forest trails on the cross bike.
A couple of my club mates have the Domane disc as their winter bike, they are ok, look good and are light, but I'd not swap my lump of steel for theirs.0
