Hi me and three others are looking for 5 days away in Europe in September.
we are looking for a base with biking on the doorstep which is close to the airport, to cut down on travel costs.
somewhere where you can swim in the sea woud be a bonus
does such a place exist?

    Mostly, no.

    If you got rid of the sea requirement, Morzine fits quite nicely, and it has a few lakes to swim in locally too, though not the sea. In fact, most of the mtb resorts tend to be close to airports due to them being ski resorts in winter. However, there's not many ski resorts that close to the sea.

    I have heard about Malaga, company called Roost DH. It's not a specialist mtb area, but they sort out uplifts and stuff, and I believe it's close to the beaches too.

    Yes, such place(s) exists!
    Try Sintra, in Portugal. It's relatively near Lisbon airport and you will find sea, mountain, historical places to see and good food.
