Hi does anyone have any real world experience of the empire shoes?

Im looking to replace my specialized 74's and these caught my eye.

Cheers

I've been using them for about a year and can report that they are great shoes. The only minor drawback that I've found is because they are lace ups on the bike adjustment isn't possible. However it didn't take me too long when I first got them to learn to do the laces up to my liking so I haven't found the need to adjust them when I'm out.

Had mine for about a year. Good shoes, no complaints. Moving on to Bontrager Classiques and Bont Cronos now as the shape is slightly better for me on the former and I want the aero gain on the latter.

Moved from sidi to empires. Love them, comfortable and snug. A females club member also has them and after getting the lace tension right loves hers too

Such good shoes, had mine for about 3 months now and I love them. I went for the non slx version because I wanted the silver ones, managed to get them for £170 which was cheap compared to most other places! The limited edition blue ones look really good too, but pretty much impossible to find

Beware if you have somewhat wide feet. I thought I didn't as I have a slim build (185cms, 68kgs, size 46) but find the Empires quite narrow and uncomfortable on my right foot. Had no such issues with my previous cheapo Shimano RO87, also size 46. The Empires are lighter and do look great though but wouldn't buy another pair.

I've had mine a month or so, love them for 30 miles then they seem to start pinching my metatarsal nearest my little toe on my left foot. I'm persevering and experimenting with different insoles, but I rode with my 5 year old Spesh BG Experts on Saturday, just for a full ride in comfort.

Love my Empires, but I have doubts about there longevity. I'm on my second pair now, on my first pair the upper started to come away from sole at the ball of the foot. They e
were replaced under warranty by Evans and they even upgraded me to the slx version for free, but sadly noticed at the weekend that the same problem as arisen again after only 6 weeks of use!

    Right, two things........

    1. The rear, they're going to be constantly bashed getting my feet in and out. They already look creased! Should last mind.

    2. Socks. WTF!!!!! I have the orange ones. White socks look awful.

You won't regret it, done a fair bit in mine now. Remember to drop your saddle a few mm to account for the reduction of stack, I had to reduce mine by 4mm.

Loosen the top laces enough and use your fingers or a shoe horn to ease foot in, pull shoe off from the heel. Mine are a tiny bit creased but have used them constantly for months now.

I don't have orange ones and I don't own white socks. Buy some that match?

Anybody seen any deals on the white ones? Not bothered if they are the SLX or not, just seems to only be the black ones that are heavily discounted at the moment.

white and black look good with all socks Bender ;0

shoe horn has been used as does the surgical spirit to remove the tyre marks and dirt from the white front.

Comfy, look good and would buy another pair. Shame I couldn't get the american market yellow with black paint splatter

Honest to good they are good though. My Sidi Drako were about 380g. These are ALMOST half as much. And you can feel it. Or rather, not feel anything. No weight in the shoes at all.
