XC helmet

After spending my Saturafay afternoon racing with my head in an oven (a.k.a a Bell Super), I am decided on buying an XC (or even road) style helmet for racing and hotter days (as the super is in good nick I'll keep it for colder days and pissing round trail centres).
I'm happy to pay a decent amount as i like my brains. I don't need the old 'fit is most important, try on a bunch' mantra as I'll be doing that. However it seems that while there are lots of trail style helmet reviews, there are less recent XC helmet reviews, so if anyone has one they think is particularly good or particularly bad I'd be interested to hear. As the key reason for purchasing is the overheating I find on the bell, clearly ventialtion is a priority.

Why are you asking then? Just buy the one that fits the best and has the most holes!Trail fun - Transition Bandit
Road - Wilier Izoard Centaur/Cube Agree C62 Disc
Allround - Cotic Solaris0 -
I'd just go and look at the Reviews at the top of the page, plenty to choose from. Now where's that "Get Out of Crash Free Card"0

I'm not sure if you are joking or not but its crossed my mind - I do have a luxurious thatch! Well going grade 3/4 at least
edit: Anyone got a Kali proectives Makara xc helmet? looks to be a good blend of light weight, vents, comfort and safety0 -
I have a Bell Volt I use for xc rides on warm days. It's nice and cool, much better ventilated than my Fox Flux. Plus being a Bell it should be similar fit to your Super

Nice one, thanks RM, that looks a bargain0

I've got Spesh 2Ds (same design as the current S3) and a Prevail, and i find the 2D more comfy and lighter on the MTB, so I'd look at an S3.0

Spesh helmets don't seem to agree with me, the kask ones seemed a bit wobbly in the shop so I am looking at the met veleno or Stradivarius HES, any thoughts on either.
I notice the vents on the veleno seem wider but slightly fewer than on the Stradivarius, wondering if that gets more air in at lower mtb speeds?
I'd like to look at the catlike helmets before buying but not sure of any stockists unfortunately0 -
Bontrager as an alternative.Bird Aeris : Trek Remedy 9.9 29er : Trek Procaliber 9.8 SL0

I went with the Met Veleno in the end, figured may as well have a peak I can take on/off as need be. Arrived from CRC today. I think its actually a better fit than the Bell Super I already had. Will keep using the Super on cold days and more demanding/rocky trails when I'm not pushing it. pleased with it on first impressions0
