Hi,
Im looking to change the cassette on my training bike so i can get up hills a bit easier on longer rides. It is a 9 speed setup and I would like to change the cassette from an 11-28 to an 11-32.
This means i need to change the rear derailleur from short to medium.
The only 105 or ultegra rear derailleurs i can find that are 9 speed compatible are newer 10 speed derailleurs which state they are 8,9,10 speed compatible. if i buy one will it need a 9 speed chain to match the cassette or 10 speed chain to fit the new rear derailleur?
Thanks

You need a 9 speed chain, the pull ratio is on the levers.0

9sp chain to match 9sp cassette, you could use a 10sp in an emergency situation. See this thread
