The Viner Salviati Ltd edition frame currently on sale on Planet X's website caught my eye in a good way and as it is such a bargainous price, I took the plunge. It is absolutely stunning in the flesh and should build into a very handsome bike. I hope it rides as good as it looks. Just waiting on a few bits to complete the build. Cutting the integrated seat mast is going to be a very nervous experience. Decided to go with the 10spd Sram Force as the gunmetal finish will compliment the frame and 10spd will allow me to use wheels i already own. It should end up pretty light.

Pastey,
I like your bikes, I really do. Enjoy seeing them built and always wonder at how the hell you afford so many builds. So please don't take this the wrong way, but this is just not right. Saddle to stem height...WTF? I'm sure it's a cracking frame and I'm sure it was a bargain but Jesus it's ugly and clunky and, well, it made a little bit of sick come in my mouth.
Please go back to the titanium ultralight insane componented things you usually build.
Again apologies for any offence caused. I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I'm sure those with far more cycling knowledge than I will appreciate its (well whatever it is)

I'm sure it'll look better when the actual saddle height is dialled in...Insta: ATEnduranceCoaching

Needs nearly 6 inches cutting from the seat tube, If it looks like i imagine it in my head, I will be happy, just wish the postman would pull his finger out and hurry up with all my bits.Viner Salviati

Ah now forgive my ignorance but I actually thought that was its actual length. Didn't realise you could get it cut.
I'll get me coat......0 -
Here she is nearly done, still making my mind up on a few of the component choices and I have different tyres and pedals to fit also. Very happy with the bike so far though and a quick pavement test seems to suggest I have cut the seat mast to the desired height.

Lovely looking frame, but bike looked better with no decals on wheels, original chainset and would be better with all black bartape, imo0

Very tasty bike build! I saw that frame on Planet X Website, but frame sizes left were too big for me. How does it ride? I see you are using Doval chainrings, how do you find them? I have ordered some on ebay, but haven't really seen any feedback from anyone using them. Came across some very technical discussions, but I just want to know how anyone feels using them! Again, fab bike build!0

The sizing on the site was wrong, I am between sizes so I can get away with either 54cm or 56cm , I ordered the large which is supposed to be 56cm but when the frame turned up,going off Viners measurements I measured it as a med 54cm which worked out better for me. They only had large and x large in stock so it could be the case that the xl frame is actually just a large. As for the ride, the bike is surprisingly stiff, I am pretty heavy but the bike did not flinch under full power. Comfort is compromised a little due to the tubeless tyres which measure closer to 21mm than the stated 23mm but the combination of the very light wheelset and stiff frame means the bike shoots uphill with ease, seems to hold speed on the flat too despite the shallow rims.
I use Dovals on all my road bikes but I have removed them from the Viner, I find them better for flat runs and TT riding, the Viner will be my hilly ride bike and I find traditional round rings better for climbing.

Now that looks a bike! Well done sirStill thinking of something clever to say!0 -
Made a few final changes and now I'm happy. Put a set of Doval rings on as all my other bikes have them and it was noticeable, swapping between bikes. Also fitted a set of 32mm deep Superstar carbon wheels fitted with Conti 400s 25mm tyres which came in lighter than advertised at 1348 grams which is great for a clincher, had to give the rear wheel a bit of attention out of the box but nothing major. Swapped the stem over to a Rotor s3x, 109 grams for the 110mm and nice and stiff for its weight. Had a quick ride last night and the bike felt great and the wheels gave a lot more comfort over the previous set. Going to leave well alone now and actually ride the thing.
