Uploading my Garmin Connect course to a friends 810 without.

Hi all.

We have a social ride in Scarborough this weekend. I've done the map on my iPad and uploaded to my 810 via Bluetooth on the Connect app.
My friends asked for the ride to be uploaded to his if possible. But without a computer I'm struggling.
I can get the ride up on his phone (safari on connects website), pressing 'save as' doesn't load nor does send to device.

Anyone got any ideas?
I have thought about disconnecting his phone from the Bluetooth pairing to his Garmin, and connect to my phone and upload but I don't want to sync his/mine rides as his Garmin is on his account and obviously my phone is on my account with the ride.

All suggestions appreciated. don't really want to have to re plot the route on his account if I can help it.

Thanks all.

What Garmin device does he have?

If he can view your course, he might be able to save it as a course on his account and then transfer it via the Garmin Connect Mobile app?

Both 810s. Can view it on his iPhone but pressing save as doesn't do anything. Presume it's a code issue with it being a mobile browser.

It's probably easiest to use a proper computer. Log into your connect account on the computer and export the route as a GPX/TCX/FIT file. Plug the 810 in question into the computer and copy the exported route to it. Put it in the 'New Files' folder.

It's hard enough to import a course from strava to my own garmin connect, they really should make it easier to do this sort of thing

Just done a bit of experimenting, it looks like you can save them if you change to classic view. Have a stab at that.

when you say "it's hard enough" do me it is actually possible.

have been trying to do this, try few different converters - all garmin connect would need is "IMPORT COURSE" function. I get that they want you to exclusivly use Garmin Everything® - but it would be very useful.

I would also be useful if the Garmin Phone apps could open emailed routed, or have a "send course to account" that you enter your buddies email into.

The old "plug your garmin into your pc, and place file in new files folder" is unnecessary hassle.

It certainly is possible, and garmin does have an import course function, however,

    a) it's hidden in classic view &
    b) it doesn't work

What you have to do is down load the gpx file from Strava, then import to GPSIES and export again. Then go into Garmin Connect in classic view and upload new activity from file. Find the GPSIES file and upload, then view the new activity, save as course and delete the activity or it won't lket you do another one. Happy days

In answer to the original question, you can save courses your own connect account from classic view, I just tried it on my iphone and it worked fine. Its now sat in my courses on the app.
