Im trying to solve my creaking on my canyon ultimate al which is running Athena with a ultratorque BB with press fit cups.

Ive looked at the rogue mechanic site and various others and im totally confused.....

Ive checked the bearings and they are like new and was wondering if anybody had actually fixed this issue.

At the moment im contemplating using Loctite on the cups?

Any ideas of can I swop out the cups for something else like praxis etc

I had my Powertorque Athena fitted by a bike shop and was disappointed that the bottom bracket became noisy sooner than expected. I ordered some new cups and decided to try and fit them myself.
After dismantling the old set up and paying attention to the packaging of the new cups, it became clear to me that the bike shop had fitted a rubber washer the wrong way round. My home fitting has lasted way longer than the bike shops.
I figure that you are pretty clued up on such issues, but thought I'd mention the above just in case.

Have you tightened the crankset fixing bolt to 42nm. I borrowed a mates car torque wrench to do mine, no more clicking!

Other thing to try then is to remove the bearings from the cups and make sure they are not dirty. I had to use fine emery paper on mine and greased them with HP grease on the surface that mates with the cups (although I am pretty sure they should be a dry fit).

Thanks ive stripped them reinstalled and have coated them with lithium grease ... Still have a slight clicking so next step is to remove the cups and loctite them in place ....

Make sure thd clicking is not pedal threads or the chain ring bolts. Put coppaslip on pedal threads. Ultra torque is not creak prone unless something is wrong.

what bb type are you using as locitie should not be needed ln a threaded bb cups just torque them up properly.my wifes bike had a maddening creak that turned out to be the ds cup had worked a bit loose i.e not torqued up properly which is embarassing.

Thanks ive checked and greased pedals and all the other usual suspects . Bottom bracket is the press cup type so just sit in the frame if that makes sense

Bb86 or pf30. Ignore rouge mechanic hes an idot.

If it bb86 you will need to replace the cups i think if you remove them as you are likey to dmage the bearings. installing the cups with some coppaslip should be enough to stop creaking. If you do use loctite pick the right grade cant advise what that is becuase i find coppaslip does the job just fine.
