Hi,
I am a new user so I am hoping you'll go easy on me...
In just under four weeks I am attempting to raise lots of money for charity by cycling, climbing and kayaking around the UK. In terms of the cycling I am cycling 650 miles from London to Ben Nevis and then attempting to break the Three Peaks on Bikes World Record. That will be 450 miles cycling and climbing the three summits in under 46.5 hours. After I have done that I will be kayaking the length of the river Thames.
I hoped some of the long distance cyclists on here may be able to offer some valuable advice (to date my longest ride is near to 200 miles.
1. Any recovery tips and advice people may have. Thus far I will be utilising self massage, stretching, foam roller, carb/protein shakes. Any other advice to improve recovery throughout would be appreciated..
2. Comfort wise, I am considering buying a Brookes saddle, can anyone suggest alternatives or specific Brookes models?
3. Bike nutrition. Currently I stop for fod every 50 miles (eating sandwiches/pasta/ cous cous) and try to nibble snacks as regular as possible. Can people suggest best meals to eat, snacks to have and how regular to have them?
Any help would be great! For more information please feel free to follow my trip at www.challenges4change.co.uk and www.facebook.com/challenges4change, @chal4change.
Thanks,
Dan,
