Can't reinstall Monarch rebound adjuster

I have made a terrible mistake.

The rebound adjuster on my Monarch R wouldn't move so I removed the grub screw to try and loosen it off. Unfortunately I pulled on the adjuster a little too hard and pulled it all the way out.

My problem is that I can't get it back in again - it will go in to about 1mm from the end. I can't quite get the grub screw back and turning the adjuster makes no difference to rebound speed.

HELP!

Any ideas? I'm going to have to take it to an LBS if I can't fix it :(

It should go back on, so you just need to figure out what is preventing it, crud, grub screw needs backing off, not quite aligned right etc.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

I thought this, so I've completely removed all of the grub screws and it still doesn't quite go in far enough. It's the slot in the actual adjuster isn't quite in far enough that I can insert the retaining grub screw.

If I put it back in without the grub screw it turns and clicks as normal, but there is no difference to the rebound damping (there doesn't seem to be any damping). Does this mean I've messed up the internals somehow?

    Thanks for the help.

How are you judging the rebound damping?

Relative to how it felt before. Even on full rebound now it bounces like a pogo stick.

Hmm sounds like you have an internal issue then.

Unfortunately, I think so as well. I think it's something to do with the rod that the adjuster pushes down. I think the adjuster isn't connecting with the rod as it should.

Hi m8, im not sure if you resolved your problem but i have same issue with my rebound adjuster and i cant push it enough, need 0.5mm-1mm to fit grub screw inside. Let me know please, thanks.

    Hi there,

I purchased the internal schrader valve adaptor to remove IFP pressure so I could move the damping piston down and reinsert the adjuster. The shock has an issue with a spike in the compression now though so be careful.

  • Thanks so much. I fixed . Need only put some air , but waiting now for Air valve adapter for rockshock.Tommorow all should be done.
  • How much air did you put ( ifp pressure),,??? As default rockshock saying 350.

I put 250psi in but it depends on the shock.
