Hi all, newbie here I'm after some advice on a new bike sorry if its been covered before.
I currently have a carrera vulcan which is abit tired now so think its time to get something better, its used for cycle paths, cannel paths, cycling around local lakes etc. and would like to start going cannock chase so nothing to hardcore.
Im about 6ft1 so was thinking a 29er would be better heres what I've been looking at.
Giant talon 1 29er

specialized rockhopper expert 29
http://www.specializedconceptstore.co.u ... rockhopper
or i could push my budget to the trek superfly 5 if its really worth it but I'm just not sure i would see the benefit for the extra price

I went to look at this earlier today and was impressed i also think the spec is better (but not really sure what I'm looking for) than the above but i think i may benefit from the bigger wheels but have never rode either so is there any real world difference between 27.5 and 29 wheels
http://www.swinnertoncycles.co.uk/bikes ... ike-p50151
any advice on this would be appreciated
Thanks Adam
ps swinnerton is local to me so would like to buy from them if possible and I'm buying using the bike 2 work scheme

Do you mean 'www.bike2workscheme.co.uk' or some other scheme?
Which scheme the company uses may narrow your choice, so it's helpfull to know which scheme rather than recommend a bike you can't get on the particular scheme. I notice that Swinnertons website mentions 'bike to work' without saying which scheme (that I can find) they work with.
The listing for the 2015 Talon has no spec's included, so hard to tell if it's any good or not.
The 'hopper is reasonable value for £680, very poor for the full price. That said the Voodoo Bizango is better specced for circa £600, so for similar money (with scheme saving) you'd have a better bike.
The Superfly 5 has a very poor fork for the price point.
27.5 v 29er, personal preference to be honest, 29er roll a bit better, 27.5 will feel a bit more 'lively'.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0
