Forks shaking
Hi everybody,
I have a carrera gryphon, an hybrid bike.
When braking, the forks are shaking a lot.
I already controlled the headset and replaced the pads, I am wonder if can be a problem with the disc.
In a bike shop they told me it could be because they are made from aluminium but to me seems to be impossible.
Any idea?

With the bike stationary, put the front brake on full and rock the bike back and fro. Then see if there is any play in the headset, etc. If not, then the shaking may be coming from braking so you will need to check the wheels to ensure they are true (just offset one of the blocks so that the wheel just clears it and then spin the wheel to see if it stops abruptly, etc.).
Sounds like play in the headset to be honest.0 -
Likely suspect is headset but it is also possible that the pads may be contaminated so they are gripping and then not gripping - hence the judder. If headset is sound as you say then I'd clean disk rotor and put new pads in0

Potentially disc warp or lose disc - spin the front wheel, look at the disc - if it wobbles like a fat girl dancing then that may be the solution to the problem.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am
