Mallorca 312

Appreciate that this is probably the hundredth post about Mallorca, but can't find anything specific about this year's Mallorca 312. is anyone on here doing it? Done it before? Have any tips or pointers? Looks like a mass start, but I'm guessing with it being 312km, there won't be too many numbskulls so might make it a little less hairy?

I'm flying out tomorrow - sporting a broken wrist from a couple of weeks ago so riding it with a splint. Have never ridden in Mallorca before, so looking forward to it - though might have to bail and do the 167 if my wrist gives me too much grief.

I'm there from tomorrow as well nursing a broken elbow my aim is 312 but I'll have to see at the split if I'm up for another 3-4 hours.

Biggest ride this year has been 93 miles so going to 200 is a big ask, hey ho

Enjoy! Its going to be awesome

Did it last year. It's a really good ride, but chaotic until the routes split.
    A few tips:
    - Most riders cane themselves for the first bit and fall away on the climb to Lluc
    - Don't descend Puig Major like an idiot, there's still on-coming traffic.
    - The first two rest stops are a mess. Try to avoid them if necessary
    - Don't expect anyone in the group to help. I had to scream my head off and ride the dead weight off my wheel
    - It's flat and fast from Palma so just ride tempo from there.

I'm doing it. Arrived in Palma a few days ago. Driving up to Alcudia early on Saturday if anyone wants a lift.

I'm not a big mileage merchant, so might just do the 167k, we shall see!

A nice feature (new this year?) is live Facebook updates of your progress.

Picked up my goodie bag in Palma yesterday, the race jersey (black and yellow) is quite nice actually..!

Did the 312 after a well paced first 90 k keeping it high but not silly, went balls deep for the rest dragging a massive peloton along in our wake, the only really difficult section was the brutal but thankfully short headwind and then a little bit of climbing towards the end.

Two of us rode it together which made the pace much easier to maintain, we also had some help from two chaps after palma, all in all a cracking event, well marshalled and signed.

No problems with bad riding or food stops and thankfully no mechanical issues.

I did it. Well, I did 224km of it. To be honest, doing it with one functional wrist and (for the last 120km) one working leg was a bit optimistic. Very well organised and I'll be back to do it properly next year.

Back again for this years, this’ll be my 3rd 312 as well as riding 225 twice solo
