Hi Guys,

I am looking to buy a Voodoo bizango from halfrauds (yes I know) £600

or a specialized rockhopper expert 29er currently on sale for £680

I will mainly be casually biking in evenings weekends and possibly doing a few trails few times a month.

Which do you think is the best bang for buck/fun to ride.

Cheers

Without knowing the specs of both id errr towards the bizango, big names tend to be poor at this level plus there's a reason the bizango has won awards.
  • I'm contemplating buying a new Hardtail for ~£500 and erring towards the Rockhopper comp as it's on sale just now from my local bike shop for £520 plus I can get it through my work on cycle scheme.

Bizango looks better based on spec but I refuse to spend that much money on a bike I can't take out for a test ride first before buying which rules out Halfords unfortunately.

I'm actually going out for a test ride of the Rockhopper this week so I'll post my thoughts up afterwards.

Bizango has better forks and brakes - sorted.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
  • Have you asked about a test ride, many Halfords will let you

Voodoo is the better bike. Forks and brakes are better plus I prefer the Shimano transmission.
The fork on the Rockhopper is particularly crap.

hi,i've been looking at a few bikes and these two you are looking at are in that list.with the advice of lots of helpful and knowledgeable people on here it seems the bizango is definitely the better bike.another one on my shortlist which is having good comments about is the Carrera fury which is the same price as the bizango.just my 5 pence worth of what I have learnt from on this site recently, if it helps you at all :)

Unless you are very tall, the bizango.

I'm looking at this sort of price point also and both are on my radar. I'm more interested in which has the better frame and is better as a long term upgrade platform. The rockhopper?

You would be better off going second hand to get more for your money if you are thinking of upgrades already. Just one example a specialised carve / crave from 2013 onwards can be found for around £500 and new they started at £1,200. Much better frame, forks and wheels but this is only one example.

Also doing that but finding something is proving frustrating, got my eye on a cube ltd pro but now unable to get hold of the seller!

There's nothing in it for the frame. Both are made by Meridian, neither stands out as better than the other.

The rockhopper is a woeful spec I wouldn't touch it. Do you not have the option to go second hand?
