  • Not fitting a saddle - getting your self measured up for the right saddle

How do you get "measured up" for the right saddle?
  • I am led to believe that they measure sit bones etc

You probably mean the Specialized Arsometer. They have one in Wildside Cycles in Tunbridge Wells. And, most likely in any other Specialized dealer. You sit on a pad and your bones leave an impression then they measure the distance between the two impressions to determine the width of saddle best for you.

If you are serious about it, Cyclefit in London do pressure mapping which can determine saddle width and a whole lot more. BUT- it may reveal issues you didn't know about or ignored. Details are on their website. Otherwise a Specialized store can help

Expensive I'll agree but they make a huge effort and invest in good eqpt and staff

It's not just specialised who do it - Selle Italua amongst others also do it.

Cyclist last month did a really good piece on saddles and saddle fit - if anything it's worth a giggle just to read some of the prices people are punting these out at.

As for shops in the county with a spelling mistake - nope, sorry, can't help.

Saddles have always been expensive for what they are going back to the Flyte. Re saddle fit, my wife went thro' the pressure mapping process at Cyclefit recently. 3 hours and a lot of work by the tech and my wife and years of saddle issues/discomfort were addressed. Without the science I doubt we would have known how to resolve the issues. The fit also opened up other things to do with physiological issues but these have to be addressed seperately

If your prepared to pop over to Thurrock, Evans have a specialised arse measuring device. Seems to do a good job of getting the correct width saddle.

I measured up there for a BG Romin Evo which despite having half the padding of my previous saddle is 10 times more comfy due to being the correct width.

I went to Larkfield Cycles on Tuesday to sit on the Bontrager version of the Asso meter. The also have some demo Fizik saddles. Speak to Alex or Tony.
