Canyon Nerve AL - missing something? (Pivot?)

Hi

Is it just me, or is this missing something? It just "looks" like there should be some sort of cap at this end of the pivot bolt. Plus, there is some vertical play, which makes me more concerned that I am missing something.

There is nothing missing, it would have to be threaded if it was critical.

Just go on the Canyon web site and look.

Cheers, that was mostly my thinking. Unfortunately the Canyon website doesn't seem to show enough detail to compare.

There is some play in that area though when unloaded (i.e. lift up from the seat) which is what is making me nervous. Now that its a Monday I'll get onto Canyon and see what they say.

That could be the shock bushes that have play in them.

I can have a look at mine when I get in from work later and check - I'm sure it won't matter, but is yours 2014 or 2015?

It looks ok to me though at first glance.

    Stav - cheers - 2015 (ie. arrived January 2015).

I'll try to take a video tonight of the play in the assembly.

Ok, mines 2014, but I don't think the frame has changed at all, just components. I'll double check and get back to you asap.

Mine defintiely doesn't have any play in it though, and I've ridden mine for the past year most weekends, so that could be an issue. Are there threads on the inside of that bolt?

Will report back soon (either tonight or tomorrow morning)

Here's a vid of the movement in the pivot point.

That doesn't look right. I've not tried tightening up the opposite side yet. A call to Canyon may be in order...

Larkim, I've just checked mine, it looks exactly the same (no attached bolt/end cap), so nothing to worry about there. However, mine has zero play like yours in the vid.

Try tightening it a little and see if that helps (17nm is recommended on the non drive side of the bolt), otherwise definitely put a call into Canyon.

I noticed mine was a little loose thanks to this (it wasn't tightened anywhere near the suggested, but still no sideways movement), so cheers too!

look if the hole is threaded, if it is, dont ride ! and get spare screw.

    after looking at https://www.canyon.com/downloads/suppor ... BOM_ts.pdf
for me it looks like you dont have screw (element 5) that it's screwed to pivot (element 3)
there should be NO play in this place

Thanks all - the difference between that pic (thanks for finding that razorjack, that's a really clear one) is that the end of the piece is slightly proud at the end - the one on my bike is lightly recessed, so I suspect its come a little loose. I didn't get time to take another look last night with an allen key in hand, but I will straight away tonight and it looks likely that I need to tighten things up.

However if it's not the 29er Nerve then it's this drawing

It looks like Heli Coil is possibly not sufficiently tightened at the opposite end of bolt 2 in this pic (it isn't the 29er as you rightly surmise).

    Thanks!

So, took the allen key to it tonight, and guess what - the bolt was loose. No surprise I suppose, but this being the first FS in the house I was steering clear of playing with the bolts. All good now, will keep an eye on it.
