Hi there
The old steelie is now fully functional, but the micro-adjusting seatpost that I bought to replace the plain seatpost and clamp is utter ****. The clamp on top slips all the time (it's a "System EX" model).
Can anyone recommend an alterantive??? (and yes, it IS 27.0mm, NOT 27.2!)

I got one of these for a Concorde frame which was also 27mm.

Thomson do the elite seatpost in a 27.0mm0

If you want to buy new (not that there's anything wrong with it), as the previous poster notes, Thomson is a good bet, if not the cheapest.
Your other option is to have the seat tube reamed - as I understand it, this is generally possible with steel frames, particularly if they aren't drawn paper thin.0 -
There is a low cost kalloy set back post that s 27.0mm and the tompson elite is good but is an inline post.http://www.thecycleclinic.co.uk -wheel building and other stuff.0

Think I want some set back, I've an odd shaped body and think this would work better! I've done a trawl and there's also some Ritchey ones on CRC, which may get my money
