cassette wear

i put a new chain on my bike have not change the cassette i got xtr cassette how do i know that cassette needs change. i put the new chain on last weekend it make fun creaking noise when put lot power on the peddles when riding does not make the noise at the bottom gears but make in the middle and top gears.does the mean my cassette is wear out.if so i put new xt cassette on .any info cheers :D

    I generally always swap both now anyhow. The price of Slx cassette its hardly worth messing about.

    Creaking noise doesn't mean a new cassette. More like an adjustment thing

    If the cassette sprockets have been worn by an old, stretched chain, then the new chain will slip/jump when you put the power down, especially on the smaller sprockets.

    No slip = no problem :wink:

    change your chain early and you'll get 3 or 4 chains to a cassette - worth it if you have an XTR / Dura Ace expensive one
