Garmin Edge 500 - change bike

I have an Edge 500 that I run on both of my road bikes. If I swap bikes it's a chore to select the alternative bike on the device, requiring 11 button presses (that's the minimum I've got it down to, and assumes I don't screw up in the sequence)

Am I missing a trick here? Anyone found a quick way to toggle between bike selections?
Cheers,

I'm not going to offer any help here, but as a Garmin 500 user with several bikes, I wasn't even aware there was an alternative bike setup possible. What's the point? Different cadence sensor?

Yes, to pick up the cadence sensor on the other bike you have to go to Bike Settings and select the other bike, assuming you have already set-it up. It's not that hard once you have done it a few times.

You made me check and yes 11 button presses, although that excludes getting back to the main screen. Although it never really bothers me.

It takes a just a few seconds. No problem at all.

On the 800 after it boots up you press the power button and a screen comes up for brightness and bike selection. if you have not named your bike this will be a "bike 1" button. Is the 500 the same?

Not the same as the 800, on the 500 you go MENU / Settings (3 down arrows) / ENTER / Bike Settings / ENTER / [Name of Bike] (1 down arrow) / ENTER / Bike Details / ENTER / [Name of Bike] / ENTER / [Name of other bike] (1 or 2 down arrows) / ENTER / BACK / BACK / BACK / BACK / BACK. Which is a right faff. But, that said, you can do it while it's locating satellites (which it will continue to do whilst you're pressing so many buttons). The maximum number of bikes is three though, which is the minimum permitted number for a Rules-compliant cyclist, so you're cutting it fine with the 500.

The one I really hate is turning off the GPS on my Forerunner 620, which I tend to use on the treadmill/wattbike. That takes at least the same number of presses, but most are on the touchscreen which makes it even more special.

I have an Edge Touring Plus with a HR strap but without any bike mounted sensors, so I just slap it on whichever bike the weather dictates and off I go. Occasionally I'll remember to hit the start button.

You could buy another Garmin? Or maybe save a hundred pound and press the button 11 times?

Well, I guess that nails it: 11 button presses it is.
Thanks for all your contributions, folks.

I swap my edge 800 between my bikes and have never set it up for anything other than my 1st bike. It works just fine as it is.Why would I need to let it know that it is on a different bike ?

If the only difference between bikes is cadence sensor just use the same profile. Don't swap to a different se
