Snapped seat post bolt - good replacement required
I have an FSA carbon seat post.
Today the rear bolt sheered whilst out on a ride.
It went with a very loud snap. We managed to tie wrap the saddle on to get home.
They have only done about 3000 miles and I'm not excessively heavy at about 74kg.
So I now need new bolts as the one still in place is slightly bent.
The bolts are m5 and about 55mm long with an allen key head.
Where is a good source of strong suitable bolts that look like the one below?
Edit - I have remeasured now and the rear (snapped) bolt was probably about 45mm long rather than 55mm.
I'm not sure because I don't have all the bits,

Thanks for the info.
The only issue is the shaped head of the original bolt fits into a metal insert in the seatpost.
The suggested replacements have square profile heads that would sit on top of the insert.
I don't know how much of an issue this would be.
Maybe I'm worrying about nothing but it was a surprise when one broke as I did use the suggested 7nm torque.0 -
Best contact FSA then0

Is the 7nm setting the recommended or the max? If 7 is printed on the item this is the max. I am 77kg and set mine to 5nm without slippage.0 -
FSA, LBS or local dude who supplies bolts to the local motor trade.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

I been in contact with FSA so hopefully will get some replacement bolts and as suggested by Dowtcha will torque to a lot less than the suggested 7nm.0
