General all round strong rims?

Just wondering if Mavic EX721 rims are a good all rounder? I ride all sorts with my hardtail. I like to go to the local jumps as well as red/black runs at your average trail center. Would EX721's be a good choice? Weight doesn't really bother me.
Another rim I was looking at were the Halo SAS ones having owned some before and struggled to even buckle them slightly.
I'm looking at both wheels and rims. If I buy just the rims I will have to build on to my existing hubs, which for the same price I can pick up a decent pair of used built wheels.
Any advice would be appreciated. I'm mainly just after something strong that can put up with punishment  on a tight budget (£200)

Yeah 721s are good rims strong in a brittle kind of way more suited to DH-lite than all-rounders on a HT. Like most Mavics if you're going to damage them they tend to crack rather than bend but personally I've not had any problems with them. 521s and 321s also worth a look if you're on a budget. Have got some 521s that must be at least three years old and some 321s that are even older no problems with either of them. The 321s are a bit Deore but the 521s are nice.
Have a look a WTB Frequency as well they're not quite in the same league as Mavic but they build up into a great set of wheels similar weight to Stan's but less expensive0 -
Cheers. Saying that I found a wheel set of 721's on hope pro 2 hubs for £110. If I break the rims at all I can't complain for that price and they are in great nick. Rims are nearly new and hubs have had new bearings and freehub At least now I have some decent hubs if I ever have to replace the rims.0

EX721 are f in good rims; I only use these. I hope by the time (if I ever do) buy a 29" inch wheeled MTB, that Mavic will be making 29" rims.
I have also heard the EX823 are also good, but I have not used them.0 -
I've heard that too, but for £200 I couldn't find many "hardcore" rims built onto a 135mm QR rear. Most were 12mm axles etc and if I did find a set the cost of the adapters for the hubs would have sent me over budget. I was stretching it at £200.
My 721 wheelset came today and what a bargain! rims are nearly brand new, just one scratch on the sticker and I put them on my truing stand, not even a slight wobble. The hubs are nice too, never had Hope hubs before.0 -
Mavic 721's served me very well for years and i sold them to a mate and he is enjoying them now.
Velocity make some robust rims for mtb's. The blunt 35 is a good choice for something wide but the standard blunt rim is lIghter. Not a budget rim though.. Dt swiss rims are fairly tough too.
Lots of choice out there.http://www.thecycleclinic.co.uk -wheel building and other stuff.0
